Midland Counties v Leicestershire - Saturday 29th. June 2019.

The Team for this game is now under the County Tab - Cost will be £8 per player. Venue is Leicester BC, Kenwood Road, Off Carrisbrooke Road, Leicester. LE2 3PL.

Balcomb Trophy (Double Rink) v Yorkshire - Sunday 23rd. June 2019 @ York RI

Congratulations to the eight who played v Durham. Dan Thornhill's rink of Ash Clipston, Josh Grant, Russ Robinson and Dan won 23-14 and Phil Broughton's rink of Jamie Haskins, John Bowley, Martyn Allsopp and Phil won 20-12 to qualify for the Regional Finals of the Balcomb on June 23rd. The venue for the Regional Finals is also York Railway Institute. The Team and reserves are now published under the County Tab. The team have asked that the Captain remembers to bring his Derbyshire shirt for these games!

Middleton Cup v Lincolnshire Result-15th. June 2019 @ Long Eaton Town BC. Unfortunately this game proved to be 'a bad day at the office' for the team. Only one rink won (Phil's rink with Jamie, Ben and Steve) and the overall score was 2 points to 20 in favour of Lincolnshire. However with Northumberland winning v Notts the league is very close with only 4 points between the four teams. Therefore the final game v Nottinghamshire at Newark Northern on July 6th. leaves all to play for.

Middleton Cup v Northumberland

The result of the game is now under the County - Middleton Cup tab, but to report here a very pleasing and well deserved win for Derbyshire. Winning 4 rinks to Northumberland's two the overall shot score was 132 - 106.

The overall points total was Derbyshire 18 points, Northumberland 4 points. The next game is on Saturday 15th. June @ Long Eaton Town versus Lincolnshire.

Derbyshire v Warwickshire

Rink scores are now shown under the County - Francis Burton Tab. Congratulations to John Bowley's rink of MIke Bowley, Adam Fletcher, Richie Robinson and John who picked up a 'hot shot' on the eleventh end to turn the rink result round.

The game ended in a draw - 125 shots each, and with three rink wins to each team the overall points score was 11 points each. A hard fought and fluctuating game that went down to a measure on the last end played to confirm the result. Played on a fast and 'swinging' green that took some mastering - well done to the players.

The first six weeks of League Results are now on the site - and will be updated on a regular basis. Thanks to Stephen Guildford for collating and publishing these results.

The current season's fixtures are shown on the web site under the Open League Tab

Congratulations to the elected Officers - their details are now updated on this site. May I remind all clubs and individual players that entries into the Bowls England National Competitions, which culminate in the Finals at Leamington, are due in to the Competition Secretary by 1st. January 2019.

Likewise clubs affiliating to Bowls England (without which Competition Entries cannot be accepted) should return their Affiliation Fees by the same date at the rate agreed at the AGM per registered player.

Congratulations to the Derbyshire Trips team of Martyn Allsopp, James Hornsby and John Arnett who beat Paul Broderick's trips from Worcestershire at the Avon BC, Stratford on Sunday 9th. September 2018. On a reportedly tricky rink the Derbyshire trio picked up two 'fives' to complete the win.

Unfortunately Dan Thornhill in the Pairs lost in the semi-final.

However it was good to have representatives from two disciplines at the Finals Day.

Ash has been selected for the next Home International Games for England in 2019. Ashley is one of only four players who have been automatically selected. Very well done.

The county appearances after the 2018 season are now updated on the web site. Congratulations to the three players 'passing a milestone'. Harry Bowles and Les Wood have both made over 100 appearances and John Bowley has now over 150 appearances for the county.

Congratulations to young bowlers Kieran Chambers, Ben Bywater and Laurence Collins for their success over the weekend at Leamington. Kieran progressed to the Quarter Finals of the Singles with a win in the last 32 over Brandon King (Oxon) 2-0 (8-5,8-1) and in the last 16 a win over Aiden Maries (Warwicks) 2-0 (6-5,6-2). To reach the quarter finals is an achievement Kieran can be proud of.

In the Plate competition two Derbyshire bowlers went even better. Ben Bywater playing with James Powell from Kent were eventual winners of the competition. In the final they played Laurence Collins and Jake Parkhurst and the final went to a deciding set, Ben and James being eventual winners 2-1 (7-1, 5-6, 1-0).

To have two Derbyshire bowlers reach the final is to their great credit. Well done to Ben and Laurence.

In the Ladies two wood competition Eloise Collins won her first round match - once again an excellent achievement for a young Derbyshire bowler competing in the Ladies competition.

Congratulations to Phil Broughton, Jamie Haskins, Helen Lewis-Wall and Sally-Ann Lewis Wall for reaching the final stages of the National Mixed Fours competition again this year. They won their final qualifying game at Leicester BC 24-12. Here's hoping they can beat last year's performance when they only went out at the semi-final stage of the competition at Leamington.

Welcome to the new Derbyshire Bowls Association web site. The county have been fortunate in obtaining sponsorship from Chatsworth Wealth Management. We have to thank Chris Gooding who made the first contact with us and for facilitating a meeting between the County and the sponsors. We asked that part of the sponsorship deal was to have a new web site built which we had better access to, in order to keep all parts of the site more up to date than has been possible in the past.

The representatives from Chatsworth Wealth Management, Colin Smith and Rick Fawdrey, not only agreed to sponsor the website but also to provide new caps for the county players and bowls towels which our players and officials can use. There will also be a sponsors banner to display at Long Eaton Town.

The design of the web site was put into the very capable hands of Katy Smith and what you see has only been made possible by her determination to provide the site we asked for. She could not have been more helpful and patient as we have made our requests for changes to her original design and for help in understanding how we can access the site and edit detail for ourselves.

So a big thank you to all involved in this process. It has happened quickly and we hope you will enjoy the site which will progress further in the next few weeks.
